Thoughts on the nine-day fortnight a few months into the experiment

If cased you missed it, a few months ago we switched to a nine-day working fortnight.

We’d previously talked about how you should be careful of part-time hours when employers and clients still expect full-time outputs.

In our case, we’re still doing full-time hours. The days we still work have been extended by an hour. So our productivity should be the same. People shouldn’t expect extra from us.

But the added benefit is that we get an extra “working day” once a fortnight back into our own pockets.

If you read the original article linked above, you’ll see our full rationale behind it.

Essentially, we’re losing motivation to work the closer we get to early retirement. But we’re still full FastFIRE and wanted to earn our full incomes to allow us to retire as early as possible. The compressed working fortnight is an attempt to give us some extra personal time while maintaining our income.

So after a couple of months: how is it going, and should you consider doing something similar yourself?
